With Dex, we’re also evolving how we name things: Optics is now the name of the app, which includes two macros ⬇️

• Viz (formerly the Optics macro): formatting modules like Cards, Panels, and People that bring structure and visual clarity.
  
  

• Dex: story-driven blocks that help you build and present full pages with flow, alignment, and clarity.

Or, you can switch to full-screen presentation mode and walk them through their journey one slide at a time, without switching tools or duplicating work, because everything happens right inside Confluence.

Dex lives inside the Optics app

Dex is available as part of the Advanced edition of Optics for Confluence. To make room for Dex and avoid confusion between the macro and the app, we renamed the original Optics macro to Viz—a name that better reflects its purpose: formatting and design. Viz is included in the Standard edition of Optics and provides powerful layout and formatting modules like Cards, News, People, and more.

Dex, now part of the Advanced edition, brings a new layer on top: storytelling and built-in presentations. Together, Dex and Viz offer everything you need to create clear, consistent, and impactful communication, without ever leaving the tools your team already uses.
